the girl has earrings | photography | children | milwaukee

Did you come here looking for Milwaukee newborn photography?  You’re in luck…we have lots of that!  But, we’re also humans who live with 2 kiddos and 7 dogs and we like to share that part of our lives too!

A few days before Cecie turned 4 she talked to Erin about getting her ears pierced. Apparently she was afraid to talk to ME about it and assumed I would say no (I’m a mean mom like that). I had always said that I would wait until she asked before having it done, and I guess the time had come.

We looked in the Milwaukee area to find the best option, ultimately choosing to make an appointment at Avant-Garde, a piercing shop in West Allis. It had great reviews and they use a needle instead of a gun (which after a small amount of research, we realized was a MUCH better option). They didn’t have a second piercer on the schedule at that time to do both ears at once, but we risked it and went ahead with it.

I was a little nervous she would leave with a hole in one ear, no earrings and a face full of tears and hysteria. Much to our surprise, she left with a hole in each ear and a little blue flower earring in each lobe. She didn’t shed a single tear and was seriously a little angel throughout the entire thing. While it mattered, anyway. Waiting to go back was typical, squirrely Cecie.

Cecie and Erin worried about finding the perfect earrings, and I held onto the camera for this part. This was clearly serious business.

After a short wait we were called back to get the party started. Cecie listened to every directive the piercer gave her and was completely STILL. Anyone who knows Cecie might not believe this. She is seriously the most wiggly little creature ever and is generally in constant motion except for when she’s sleeping (and even then, she is not as still as you’d think a sleeping person should be). Today, though, she was amazing and barely even flinched. She showed a little bit of discomfort for approximately 1 second and then she was over it. She’s kind of a bad ass. 🙂

Afterwards she was a little stressed about her ears hurting, but the promise of ice cream stopped that talk pretty cold. She doesn’t really seem to notice them anymore and here we are…we have a 4 year old with pierced ears. That happened fast.
